We are trying to change how Health Care and Social Services provide support to informal carers.

Therefore, we created two unique digital services, En bra Plats (A Good Place) & Demenslotsen (Dementia Guide). The digital services function as tools for Health Care & Municipalities to provide on- line support for carers.

En bra Plats - A Good Place

Carers has various needs - for information and training, for support and the need to exchange thoughts and feelings with those that are in the same situation. En Bra Plats was co-founded in 2009 by an informal carer, and was designed as a tool for public organisations to cater for the various needs of carers.

The e-service En Bra plats enables public organisations to provide carers with online:

  • Information
  • Counselling
  • A Social network of other informal carers

”En Bra plats” social network in Sweden consists of carers between the age of 16 - 90+ with over 180 diagnosis. The carers can network anonymously, only gender and age are shown. The platform has a matchmaking function and they can communicate one-to-one, in regional or national groups. The platform also makes it possible for professionals to provide on-line counselling and support.

En Bra Plats is now (2019) in version 11. The development over the years has been driven by user feed-back and in close collaboration with the professionals that work with the digital service.

Demenslotsen - Dementia Guide

Dementia often has a very long course and it is impossible for carers to initially get acquainted with all the different phases. If the advice and tips given are not relevant at the time, they are difficult to relate to and take on board. Many carers describe how they drown in the amount of information available on the Internet and do not know how to determine what is relevant to them.

Tackling that problem, in 2018 we launched a digital guide that helps Health Care & Municipalities to provide carers with the quality assured information they need. The e-service, Demenslotsen, works like a GPS and automatically pushes out the right information at the right time. This means that the carer is kept up to date on WHAT to do and WHERE to go for support. The aim of the digital service is to provide the carers with guidance and information that they need for the moment, and with foresight to prepare for what comes next.

Demenslotsen is a collaboration between En Bra Plats and the Municipality of Helsingborg. It was developed and tested together with carers, a network for dementia nurses in the southern part of Sweden and a primary care network. Together, they have analysed where along the journey of dementia it is important to receive information and how soon the next information should automatically be sent out from the system.

We provide our customers with the digital service and a way to work with the tool. We also provide the public organisation with marketing material, for example posters and online ads, to help them reach out to carers. We will happily provide you with references from Swedish public organisations and give you examples on how the digital services can bridge the gap between carers, Health Care and the Social Services.

En Bra Plats and Demenslotsen are operated by the company Edu Med AB (inc.). Since 2009 Edu Med AB has been providing services in welfare technology, providing a link between public organisations and the people.
